Check ICE Release Records

To find someone released from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement System after a Chickasaw County custody event, begin with the federal detainee locator and the agency that made the transfer. No ICE detention facility or local county detention contract was verified in Chickasaw County. A person can leave the regional correctional facility through an immigration handoff without entering the community. ICE records must then confirm detention, transfer, or recent release from that federal system. The locator has a limited recent-release scope, and a missing result is not proof of release. Exact identity and event details matter.

ICE Releases After Chickasaw Custody

ICE is a federal civil immigration system, not a Chickasaw County jail. Its local relevance begins when a person is transferred after county custody or has a separate immigration case. No ICE detention site or county ICE detention contract was verified in the research. Do not assign a local ICE address, operator, or release desk that has not been established.

A county release entry can name ICE as the receiving agency. That means Chickasaw County custody ended and ICE custody began or was expected to begin. It is a transfer, not release to the community. Later outcomes can include continued ICE detention, movement to another detention site, release under conditions, removal, or another agency’s custody. Each event needs its own source.

Custody handoff: “Released to ICE” describes transfer between authorities. It must not be shortened to “released” without the federal outcome.

Confirm ICE Release Records

The ICE Online Detainee Locator System, or ODLS, is the official public search. One route uses the nine-digit A-number plus country of birth. Add leading zeros when the A-number has fewer digits. The other route uses exact first and last name plus country of birth. Spelling and order matter.

  1. Obtain the A-number if it is available and verify the country of birth.
  2. Search ODLS by the complete nine-digit number and country.
  3. If no number is known, try the exact recorded name and country of birth.
  4. Read the result as an ICE status, not as proof about county, state, or federal criminal custody.
  5. For a recent-release result, record the status date and confirm it with ICE.
  6. Compare the Chickasaw release entry to determine whether the local event was a transfer.

ICE’s official attorney resources explain that ODLS can include people released from ICE custody within the preceding 60 days.

Official ICE recent-release locator guidance for Chickasaw County custody transfers

The official guidance establishes the recent-release window, but a locator result still needs to be matched to the county transfer and the correct person.

ICE Release Locator Contacts

No verified Chickasaw County ICE facility contact exists to publish. Use the nationwide ODLS and the appropriate ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations office identified through official ICE resources. When the locator cannot resolve the status, ask which ERO field office has responsibility for the case. Do not send sensitive identity data to an unverified number or private directory.

For documentary detail, use the official ICE records-request route linked through agency resources. Identify the person by full name, A-number, date and place of birth, and the precise detention, transfer, or release record sought. Privacy law can limit third-party access. A focused date range and named record are more useful than asking ICE to narrate the whole case.

Read ICE Release Locator Results

ODLS is not a full historical archive. Official ICE guidance says it can include people released from ICE custody in the preceding 60 days. It may not return minors, people held only briefly by Customs and Border Protection, records outside its scope, a misspelled name, or a result delayed by data processing. A no-hit does not prove release, removal, or absence from custody.

No resultThe search did not return a covered match.Check spelling, A-number, timing, age, scope, and ERO.

The result should be reported with the agency and date. “Not found” is not a release status. It is only a search outcome.

Why ICE Release Searches Fail

Name spelling, name order, aliases, country-of-birth entries, and leading zeros in an A-number can change the result. Data timing is another limit. ODLS does not cover every encounter, and a person outside the stated recent-release period may not appear as expected. Minors and very short CBP custody can also fall outside the public result.

Repeat the search with verified identifiers, then contact the proper ERO office. Keep a record of the search date and inputs without publishing protected data. If the question concerns the local handoff, request the Chickasaw County booking-and-release entry that names the receiving agency.

Chickasaw ICE Detainers and Transfers

An immigration detainer asks another law-enforcement agency to notify ICE before release and can support a custody transfer. It does not by itself prove that the person entered ICE custody or was removed. The executed Chickasaw release or transfer entry shows what the county did. ODLS or ICE confirmation shows what the federal system then recorded.

A person can also have an unresolved court case while immigration custody changes. Use the county case number to follow the criminal disposition and the A-number for the immigration record. The two processes should not be collapsed. A transfer can occur after bond, time served, or another local release authority without becoming a community release.

Note: The receiving agency field is the key local fact when a Chickasaw County release entry may represent an ICE handoff.

ICE Release Versus Other Custody

Release from ICE ends ICE detention. It does not prove that a state warrant, federal criminal order, county hold, or another country’s process is absent. Conversely, leaving the Chickasaw regional facility does not establish any ICE outcome. Check each named authority in order.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator serves sentenced federal criminal custody, while ODLS serves ICE detention. The U.S. Marshals path applies to federal pretrial detention. MDOC handles Mississippi state prisoners. The Chickasaw facility record handles the local event. Choosing the wrong locator can create a false no-hit.

Connect Chickasaw and ICE Records

Start with the county booking number, release date and time, release type, case number, and receiving agency. If ICE is named, move to the A-number and ODLS. If the county record says community release, do not add an immigration transfer that the source does not support. The Chickasaw County released inmates search path covers the local record and court checks.

Ask for existing records, not a new certification that the person is free. The county can document its event, and ICE can document its own event. A reliable conclusion states both.

Request ICE Release Documentation

An ICE records request should identify the precise immigration custody event. Use the full legal name, A-number, date and place of birth, and a narrow detention or release date range. Ask for an existing custody-status, transfer, release, or movement record rather than a broad explanation of the immigration case. Follow the official ICE records directions and identity requirements.

Privacy protections can restrict a third party’s access. The person or an authorized representative may be able to provide the required proof of identity or consent. When part of a document cannot be released, ask whether the nonexempt portion can be segregated. Keep the request purpose neutral and limited to custody verification.

The Chickasaw County custodian remains the correct source for the local handoff. Ask the county for the booking number, release date and time, release authority, case number, and receiving agency. Then ask ICE for the federal event. Neither office should be asked to reconstruct the other agency’s decision.

ICE Recent Release Window Limits

The 60-day recent-release scope is useful but narrow. A person released earlier may not appear as a recent release. A person transferred between ICE sites may appear in custody without revealing the full movement history. Data lag can also separate the real-world event from the public display. Record the date of every ODLS search.

When an exact release date is needed, confirm it with ICE or request the existing record. Do not turn the locator’s silence into a date. The same caution applies to a Chickasaw County entry: a local timestamp records the county handoff, not the later ICE release. If both events matter, report both dates and label each agency.

Match Chickasaw ICE Release Identities

An A-number is stronger than a name-only match. Confirm country of birth, name spelling, aliases when lawfully available, date of birth, and the agency tied to the event. Never match people by photograph alone. A booking photo reflects an arrest-stage record and may not appear in ODLS.

If identifiers conflict, stop and request clarification from the record-holding office. Publishing an unsupported link between a Chickasaw booking and an immigration record can misstate both identity and custody. A no-hit after careful searching remains unresolved, not proof of release.
